The body of the pencil is Thick-Bodied, High-Impact ABS. The Striker pencil is designed with as few parts as necessary in order to eliminate jamming due to saw dust, dirt and grime. The Striker pencil is loaded with DURA LEAD. Dura Lead is 18-percent thicker than traditional lead and lasts 2-3x longer. It has a series of patented grooves which create a positive lock with the jaws of the Striker pencil. This ensures that the lead will not slip into the pencil. Additionally, Dura Lead is a resilient mixture of Clay and Graphite, not harmful lead.Researched, designed and tested by professionals, Striker products provide users with functional, innovative solutions. I've had this about 2 weeks. In that period, I regularly grabbed for my trusty carpenter's pencil - far more than the Striker.
Even of a sound concept, its design leave much to be desired. Like its jaws - with an accidental jolt or twist whilst scribing lines/layouts, they give way. And cause the lead to retract into the pencil body.
I'll think again twice before purchasing another pair - except as a Gift.

Thought this was great for the first week, then I saw it at Home Depot under their name for less than half of the price of Amazon. Currently being sold in HD stores for $1.99. Lead seems to not mark well... almost as effective as using a pen rather than a pencil. Meh.
