Customer Reviews
This jig is a great idea but in practice it is way to slow and requires constant fiddling with to work correctly. If it would stay put where you needed it then it might be a great product. I am sending this one back.
The instructions that came with it were in Spanish and English and were one page of mostly diagrams. The correct use and understanding behind this devise was not explained. Perhaps with a better set of instructions, someone may be better able to put it in practice.
I don't think any serious carpenter would need this. I don't think any DIY'er would be able to figure it out. Doesn't really have a target user.
I would rather use my combination square or tri-square for 45 degree marks rather than this piece of plastic. It didn't really hold my tape well to the trim corners. Works best on a short piece of trim. A short piece of trim can be hand measured easily without this however. On long trim it didn't want to stay put. Long trim is where something like this would be a good idea if it worked! I can't really recommend it.
I bought this tool to help with installing door casings. As other reviewers said, it is not all that good at what it was designed to do.
But I have found that on occasion, it is great when you need to measure a board or piece of molding from the mitered end. I know, you should make your straight cut first and then measure to where you are going to make your miter cut. But what if you have two ends that are both miter cuts.
I tried to use the "reveal" part of the tool, but found it too clumsy. The only time I use it is when I want to use the nails to stick it into a mitered edge and then it holds my tape perfectly.
